Blue River Bistro...

The Blue River Bistro is open to the public Monday to Friday 9.30am - 1.30pm for refreshments, including breakfasts from 9.30am and lunches from 11.30am, offering a varied daily luncheon menu cooked and served by our learners.

All learners can be trained and assessed to NVQ Level I&II standards in Food Preparation and Cooking or Food Service and will be able to complete foundation courses in Food Safety, Health and Safety and First Aid.

Learners will gain further experience in our work placements and be encouraged and supported to enter local and national catering competitions, attend local trade fares and visit suppliers to gain experience and knowledge in this exciting industry.

The Blue River Bistro is owned and operated by Springboard Sunderland Trust. Springboard was established in 1975 by CSV, the national volunteering charity and is one of the oldest training and volunteering agencies in the City of Sunderland.

	We operate across seven sites in the city and also have centres in South Tyneside, Hartlepool and East Durham with a wide variety of training facilities including classrooms, computer based training and workshop space. Our newest site at the Rivergreen Industry Centre incorporates specialist training facilities including motor vehicle workshops, a design and print studio, a nursery facility for childcare training, a high quality training kitchen with community café and special areas for practical skills development. In addition it has an independent living centre, conference rooms and multi purpose training facilities for use by the local community.
